About Carolina Business Alliance

Carolina Business Alliance was founded by Mark Knopic in 2008 to provide specialized real estate and business brokerage services. These specialized offerings uniquely match up to the education and life experiences that Mark possesses. This includes: Being a small business owner. I grew up as a 3rd generation hardware store owner. I relocated the business from a smaller rented location and oversaw construction of a ground up 16,000 sq. ft. hardware store. Grew business from $800,000 in annual sales to over 2 million in a 4 year period. Also served as the president of the Michigan Retail Hardware Association which was the largest home improvement trade organization in the country. Simply put, I understand the dynamics on how a successful small business operates and have the ability to interpret its financial health. Having a background of being “in a business owners shoes” gives me a knowledge leg up in working with business buyers and sellers as compared to other brokers. Being an Independent Real Estate & Business Broker with 20 plus years experience; having completed over 500 in combined brokerage transactions. I served as the Broker in Charge and sales manager for Fairways Development in Columbia Sc. where I assisted the developer with market research and home site pricing as well as coordinating all of the marketing and advertising for the development. The time I spent at Fairways spurred my interest in developmental real estate. Upon the founding of Carolina Business Alliance, the real estate side of my business shifted to an emphasis of working with commercial and developmental land markets which aligned with my interest goals. Many business brokers list as many businesses as they can (sometimes with a retainer or listing fee) hoping a few of them sell. This is not our approach as we choose to work with only a selective number of quality businesses that we know that we can sell. We receive payment upon the closing of your businesses which is being paid for success rather than some misguided up-front fee! So what is a quality business? A quality business can come from any industry but has four common requirements...
